Before you pay a supplier,a changed account is checked.
In the companies app, a payment to a supplier account you have not paid before, or that the supplier has not confirmed, waits for one confirmation before it can go into your payment file. On for every company, at no cost.

[01] Why it matters
The invoice is real. Only the account is new.
Changed-bank-detail fraud is simple. A message that looks like it comes from a supplier, sometimes from the supplier’s own hacked mailbox, says its bank account has changed. The invoice and the amount are right, so the next transfer goes out as usual, to someone else. Once it has left, getting it back is slow, and often it cannot be done.
Same name, same signature, sometimes the supplier’s real mailbox.
The amount and the due date are right. Only the account is new.
A transfer to the wrong account is slow to recover, if it can be recovered at all.
[02] How it works
Check, hold, then pay.
The shield sits between your purchase invoices and your payment file. You keep paying the way you do; only a changed account waits.
Check. Every account, when it lands or changes.
When a purchase invoice that carries a supplier account arrives, or its account changes, the account is checked against the ones that supplier is known to use: confirmed by the supplier on Advanta, by its bank or by €0.01 it sent, or seen in your own bank debits of the last 24 months or on your paid invoices.
Hold. Another account waits for one confirmation.
If the supplier has accounts on file and this one is not among them, the invoice is held. If the supplier or you said an account is not the supplier’s, it is blocked. A supplier’s first account is held only if you ask for it.
Pay. Your payment file leaves it out.
Held and blocked invoices are left out of the SEPA payment file you build on the Invoices to pay page; the other invoices go in as usual. If the check cannot run, no file is built.
[03] Four ways to confirm
One confirmation releases the payment.
Pick the one that suits the supplier. When the account is confirmed, the invoice goes back into your payment file.
Asks the supplier on Advanta, when it is on Advanta with its verification approved.
To an address at the website the company register gives for the supplier. The link works for 14 days and takes one answer.
The supplier sends €0.01 from the new account to yours, with a reference code.
For example, a call to the phone number the company register gives, written down with your reason.
[04] For suppliers
Changed bank? Say it once, for every customer.
A supplier on Advanta that changes bank says so once, for all its customers. Its own bank, or Advanta’s operations team, verifies the new account.
For suppliers →The supplier, once.
Its bank, or Advanta’s operations team.
All its customers on Advanta.
[05] Always on
On for every company. Off only with a reason.
It is on for every company. Only Advanta’s operations team can switch it off, for everyone or for one company, and only with a written reason.
Each one is checked when its account lands or changes.
An account reaches an invoice when someone enters it or a file import carries one. The accounting-software connections and the e-invoice readers do not bring a supplier’s account in yet.
